so beautiful: a great photoshoot by laura makabreskus.
these double exposures make two worlds come to life at once.
collections of succulents are porn for inattentive would-be green thumbs like me. (and even if plants aren’t for you, everything on the bwmag tumblr is worth checking out.)
some of the greatest colours come from damaged film. this shot makes the sky look like the sea.

i fell asleep upset, and spent saturday morning sleeping it off. dreaming about sweden, tall walls, a warehouse with a party in it, ex-boyfriends, ex-patients, jealousy, drinking instead of driving, and being excited to see my best friends.
maybe it will get better with sleep. when life is no good, dream it away instead.
things will get better with time and with mumford & sons. when i’ve calmed down sufficiently to enjoy these things.
sometimes, it gets better with a little vitriol.
sometimes, there’s someone who can help.
often, it helps to be really self indulgent and take a Sad Day.
mostly, i guess it will get better when i embrace the good bits, and make a change.

Theirs is a relationship that cops a lot of criticism. He cheats on her occasionally, and she takes his worst tantrums with a weathered smile. She is constantly disappointed, and believes her disappointment is only really a symptom of how much she loves him. Maybe it is - or maybe it’s really only a measure of how much she wants him to love her back. I don’t know that the relative intensity of disappointment is ever a particularly good reason to stay with anyone.
It would be an awkward wedding, he said.

When we have a place to ourselves, the mish-mash of strange furniture and pretty things will be entirely accidental, but i hope it’s a pretty as this.

BUYING PRESENTS - BEST OF
a present for anyone: the AMradio modern mobile.
a present for my best friend: mugs for winter mornings.
a present for my family: chalkboard candlepots.
a present i bought for myself: an amazing upside down sky planter.

the best looking winter breakfast i think i’ve ever seen.
food is still fun: a Fuck Yeah pie and beautiful sandwiches.
a recipe to share with friends: white wine carrots.
now you’re just showing off: grilled potato rounds with pesto and asparagus.
i’ve been drinking this lemon ginger honey tea almost every day.

I marry you every day. When our eyes are crinkled and ugly with sleep. When you laugh in a bookshop. When you whisper but I still hear you. When I feel your restlessness fill up the bed. We’re so tired we barely move. A year and a half of Tuesday mornings. The impossible, that way.

THE BEST OF VINTAGE AND HANDMADE
once it was cutlery. now it’s jewelery. check out these DIY rings from old forks and spoons.
i am an absolute sucker for handpainted plates. this one is my favourite right now.
it would be hard to feel like you’re not in the fifties with whitegoods like this.
handmade tags maketh the brand: I fell in love with the new pillows from Erin Flett.
i love these handpainted playing cards.

maybe it’s time to break the piggybank for a few new rolls of film - kodak is officially bankrupt.
this is what happens when you soak 35mm film in tequila and saltwater.
a devastatingly beautiful dictionary of long-distance heartache in this account of a circumstantial break-up.

I killed off my gym membership new years resolution because it had too much to do with air-conditioned spaces, and didn’t have enough to do with the sea.
need some help with your resolutions? whittle it down to just three.

NEW YEAR’S EVE 2011 and I’ve always been yours would have been a nice thing to say, but it wasn’t quite true. it’s more complicated than that. every time we look at one another, it’s complicated. a whole world between two faces and we hardly say a thing of it.

one of my favourite couples are in Cinque Terre together right now, with views of the ocean out their window. in every photo, they’re holding onto one another with closed-lipped grins. they look happy. i hope they’re even happier than they look.
THE OFFICE

(via julia. - i love this.)
make the space. make them a team. make sure they work cohesively and happily and creatively. that’s the brief.
all i have decided so far is that there will be one desk. i would like plants on the desk. i would like a lot of stuff on the desk. and i would like it to be a desk like this.
